About The Site

This site was created in 2022 by an emeritus professor who taught courses in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). Hence the site’s domain name (ecefiles.org).

The site’s icon is one of NASA’s 70 meter dish antennas used as part of the Deep Space Network to communicate with probes sent to planets throughout our solar system. I hope you find it inspiring, as l do.

The material presented here is based on courses and associated research publications that I developed and/or contributed to while working at Kansas State University for two decades before retirement. Beyond that, the site has no affiliation with K-State.

About the Author

I became fascinated with electronics, radio, engineering, and physics in the 1960s during the “Apollo years”, and was first licensed as an Amateur Radio operator in 1970.

Author using Knight kit radio equipment in 1970s.

After becoming interested in electronics and radio in grade-school and working in a TV repair shop during high-school, I studied electrical engineering in college and worked in the electronics field over the next 12 years. Then, in 1992, I returned to school for a PhD to allow moving into teaching and research.

In 1996, I found a faculty position at K-State where I could devote an equal amount of effort to both missions, supported by colleagues and inspired by students for the next 22 years.

This website and the associated videos on YouTube are my way of trying to continue these missions as I explore retirement. I hope you enjoy them.
